The AU Special Representative for Somalia sends goodwill message to the people of Somalia during the Holy Month of Ramadan

Mogadishu – The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) for Somalia and Head of ATMIS, Ambassador Mohamed El-Amine Souef, sends his warmest wishes to the government and the good people of Somalia as they begin observing the Holy Month of Ramadan.

“This is a period to focus on the Almighty Allah and reflect on his teachings. A time  to purify the soul, strengthen family ties, and show empathy and compassion towards the less fortunate,” Ambassador Souef says.

The SRCC urges the Muslim faithful to pray for the country during the Holy Month to overcome the challenges facing it and ensure peace and stability is realized.

“During the Holy Month and even after it, let us embrace each other and work closely with those in authority to build a safe, prosperous, and secure Somalia. We owe it to the present and future generations,” Ambassador Souef observes.

The SRCC reiterates that the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), will continue working closely with the Government and the good people of Somalia in fighting terrorists and other armed opposition groups that have for long denied the country peace that many yearn for.

Ramadan Kareem.
