Mogadishu, 24th October 2022 – The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), strongly condemns the heinous attack by Al-Shabaab terrorists at the Tawakal Hotel in Kismayu, Somalia.
“These despicable attacks by Al Shabaab are in response to the intensified and ongoing operations by the SNA, local forces, and the population to stand up to them after years of wanton destruction of lives and properties. This is a concerted and courageous step to defeating terrorism in Somalia and ATMIS remains committed to supporting the Federal Government of Somalia to defeat Al Shabaab’’, said the ATMIS Force Commander and Acting Head of Mission, Lt. Gen Diomede Ndegeya.
